Braga-Augusta International Board Games Festival 2019 was presented today at a press conference. The event that takes place on the 13th, 14th and 15th of December at Altice Forum Braga has free entry and hopes to surpass the previous edition in the number of visitors.
“Welcome to the International Board Games Festival of Braga” was how Alberto Pereira, one of the directors of the ‘Cidade Curiosa’ Association, started presenting another edition of the festival. The new conditions offered by Altice Forum Braga reaffirm the interest in board games as an educational, inclusive, and family-friendly tool. Expectations are high for this year. Alberto Pereira believes that this year's edition will outnumber the previous edition, which was for the association that drives, a success.
Sameiro Araújo, vice-president of the Braga City Council, believes that this event will “exceed expectations due to the greatness of the space”, reaffirming that the municipality has an important role in supporting these initiatives. The former councillor for sport and youth reiterated that “young people value these initiatives and the public has been participating in the actions of this association.”
Carlos Silva, director of InvestBraga, the entity that manages the space, informs that the comprehensive capacity of Altice Forum Braga to receive various types of events is undoubtedly an asset, namely by offering very attractive conditions for this type of events and, even the offer of a free car park.
Braga International Board Games Festival - Augusta 2019, organized by that association and supported by the Municipality of Braga, is committed to showing the Game in all its fullness and aspects. It has its privileged audience in families; however, it does not discourage other audiences, especially young people, seeking that they discover new forms of socialization and entertainment.
During the event, space will be given to several national and international board game publishers, as well as the presentation of some industry news. Special mention for the launch of the edition of the well-known board game VIRUS2, with the presence of its authors as well as the illustrator. Confirmed is also the presence of one of the most respected designers in the world of Board Games, Vital Lacerda.
In addition to the exhibition area and the Gamer area, any of the visitors can, during the 3 days, play a board game, within the offer of more than 600 titles. In this area, around 40 specialized monitors will be able to count on the help of explaining each board game.
Event schedule:
- December 13th (Friday) from 4pm to 12am;
- December 14 (Saturday) from 10am to midnight;
- December 15th (Sunday) from 10am to 6pm.
